Tucked in the quite lanes

The subject would be the best way to describe this temple , which is tucked in the quite lane of Raja Hanumantha Lala street , the nearest landmarks being the Gosha Hospital and the Mani Iyer Hall- The Theosophical society.... No this is not Besant Nagar. There is another Theosophical society in the heart of Chennai, in Triplicane aka Thiruvallikeni, the cultural nerve centre of Chennai, with its traditional madisar & Panchakacham clad women and men folks, who have visiting the famous Parthsarathy temple and participating in its festivites as part of their day to day lives. Triplicane has a blend of both the old and new world order. Of course Cricket is part of its folklore.

The Presiding deities of Sri Kameswarar Temple are The Lord Kameswarar and goddess Kameswari. The Lord is in the form of a Swetha Bana Lingam and Ambal with a Tribamgi swarupam.

This small temple brims with festivals thro out the year . The Annual 10 day brahmotsavam is held in the month of Chitra(Chitra Pournami).Apart from this the other festivals include Regular Krittigai Ursavams, Pavithrothsavam, Vasantotsavams,Navarathri Utsavam, Panguni Uttiram, Adi Krittigi, Aani Thirumanjanam to name a few.

This blog will bring out the festivals in regular intervals. Wait for more updates.... and the activities of the Satsang....

Some of the prominent sons of the soil of Triplicane include, The Great mathematician - Srinivasa Ramanujam, Silver tongue Srinivasa Sastri, The great violinist Dwaram Venkatswamy Naidu, former India's opener W V Raman to name a few, not to miss out on national poet Subramanya Bharathi.
Triplicane is also famous for another famous temple, Thiruvettiswarar one of the most ancient temples in the radius.
