Dear Bhaktas

It is well known that temples start buzzing with Utsavams starting from the month of Aadi,so are a number of our festivals... starting from Krishna Jayanti to Diwali...These are my favourite months. There is festival in the air, good season for Jasmine and the chrysanthemums, that flood the market.
Our temple under whose name this blog has been created buzzes with action in this month. The Aadi Fridays are very well celebrated . The Utsava moothy, which we foldly call Sukravara Amman, is decorated and the Goddess is in all its splendour blesses its devotees , who come from far and wide. The deity goes round the temple premises thrice accompanied by good nadaswaram. At the conclusion of the 3rd round the Sri Padams, dance to the music of Notes(English notes)- this in the recent years has given way to our own folk number sung by the great Saint composer - Talapakka Annamacharya- Thantha Na thi... bala thantha na na... You must see it to experience this state of devotion, when you surrender your heart and soul to the Almighty... this is followed by Magudi and then followed by Unjal Seva and after this the deity offers darshan to devotees from the Alamkara Mandap.... This is a must be present occasion at the temple. Here are a couple of snaps taken on the first two weeks of Aadi velli at Sri Kamakala Kameswarar Temple this year(2008)

About Sri Kamakala Kameswarar Temple

The Pradhana murthys of this ancient temple are Lord Kameswarar and his consort Goddess Kameswari. The Moolavar is in the form of a Swetha Bhana Lingam , a rarity in this regions and the Goddess has a Tribhangi Swarupam- again a very rare form of sculpture in this part of the vindhyas. The Goddess reigns supreme through her Ardha Meru and Sri Chakram. The other deities include Lord Ganesh, Lord Subramanya, Lord Iyyappan, Lord Hanuman and Utsavam Murthy- Lord Rama with his consort Sita , Hanuman and Brother Lakhsmana. It is believed that King Chatrapathi Shivaji had once visited this temple. The Moolavar vimans are made of Granite structures, indicating that the temple is very ancient. It shdould be more than 700- 800 years old.Goddess Durga is also present in the temple. A number of devotees throng the temples on Tuesday afternoons for the Rahu Kala Prayers, believed to ward off evils and bring prosperity to those who offer prayers. The temple is visited by devotees from far and wide.
The Temple's New Rajagopuram was constructed and rajagopuram consecration (kumbabhisekham) happened in the year 1994. A number of renovation works have been carried out subsequently. The Temples celebrates a number of festivals throug out the year - Brahmotsavam , Vasantotsavam,Vaikasi Vishakam,Aani Thirumanjanam for Lord Nataraja, Aadi Puram, Pavithrotsavam, Annabhisekam, Kartigai Deepam,Arudra Darisanam to name a few.The Soora samharam utsavam held at the conclusion of Skanda Sashti must visit in this part of the world. This happens after Diwali.
There is a good participation in all the utsavams by devotees and the Sri Padams are very active in the day to day activities of the temple,be it doing cleaning work at regular intervals or participating in the festivities.
Pl keep visiting this blog for more updates about the utsavams.
